Inclusion and Accessibility

In terms of e-teaching/learning and within the framework of this course the aspect of inclusion we are most interested in is the potential for technology to motivate and engage. It's about PARTICIPATION. The tech can of course demotivate and disengage! Accessibility is more pragmatic and is about the process of accessing, viewing and using resources. At the technical end, it's about compatibility with screen readers, translating documents into Braille, providing subtitles to videos and so on. In terms of  US as teachers it's about being aware of some of the pitfalls and mediating against them wherever possible or at least providing resources in alternative formats.

I threw together some points on accessibility onto a few powerpoint slides then used screen cast o matic to go through them in video format. There's an option once you have finished to upload to YouTube (which I have done) then I embedded the video into my blog.

For 1.4 you need to think about accessibility in terms of 1 or 2 etools you have used or seen and write a short post about it.
